The Society of Surgical Ergonomics
Research Consortium

What is the Research Consortium?

The Research and Applied Ergonomics (RAE) Committee’s goals are to promote research efforts in surgical ergonomics by developing projects, conducting studies, and connecting researchers. We are looking to build multi-institutional collaborations to advance the field of ergonomics. The RAE committee is the overarching organizational committee and oversees the Research Consortium. The Research Consortium serves as the main research body of the SSE. This is made up of a group of individuals who are dedicated and interested in brainstorming, developing, and implementing projects with a focus on addressing unmet needs in surgical ergonomics research.

How do I join the Research Consortium?

You can sign up to be a member of the research consortium by following the link:

As a part of the RAE committee or Research Consortium, you will be asked to sign a confidentiality statement to protect the integrity of research projects and ideas. If you have not received a confidentiality statement, this means you still need to sign up using the link above.

How often does the Research Consortium meet?

The Consortium meets every 3-6 months to discuss newly submitted research projects and for study leaders to provide brief updates on the projects that have been presented a previous consortium meetings.  These meetings are held via Zoom and upon acceptance into the consortium, you will be added to the listserv to receive the meeting invitations.

How do I submit a proposal to be presented at the Research Consortium meetings?
Members of the consortium are eligible to submit a project for the next consortium workshop at this link:

These workshops will work to help develop ideas and projects. All research consortium members will be invited to attend and participate. We will select the top 4-5 submitted projects to discuss during the workshop and help develop the
ideas, find collaborators, and work on implementation strategies.
